What's happening with LED lighting

I recently attended the International Light Fair in the Philadelphia Convention Center (nice and close for me this year). This is "the" show for every manufacturer throughout the world to showcase their products, and showcase they did. Everywhere I looked were companies presenting LED (light emitting diode) products. It quickly became obvious that this super technology is here and now - poised to be used for every lighting device you can name.
LED's have come a long way since their first development in the 1960's. They were used in various indicator applications, such as automobile dashboard indicators and light switching devices. They differ from traditional light sources in the way they produce light. They are comprised of layers of semi-conducting materials coating a minute chip, which produces light when an electrical current flows through it. The specific color emitted depends on the materials used to make the diode. Light color tones or hues are measured on a Kelvin temperature scale. When a warm tone white light is desired (as we are used to seeing with incandescent lighting), the color temperature is about
2700 K (Kelvin), and is a good choice for most residential use. But if the light needs to be a bit more crisp or halogen-like, a 3000 K bulb would be more preferable.
But, is every lighting device right for LED's? LED's have some unique characteristics. First of all, they emit light hemispherically (straight out), whereas our traditional light sources - incandescent and compact fluorescent (CFL's) - emit light spherically (in all directions). Therefore, LED's are generally more efficient and waste less light. Second, they are impervious to vibration and usually do not need glass enclosures; nor do they get hot, so they won't burn your fingers either. And, traditional light sources burn out sooner when switched on and off frequently, while LED's are unaffected by rapid cycling or dimming features. They also come on at full brightness, unlike CFL's, which have a delay prior to attaining optimal light output and are not reliably dimmable.
They consistently last between 35,000 and 50,000 hours (5 years) if they are left on full time. In comparison, this is ten times longer than a halogen bulb. And if we compared it to a life of 1000 hours for a 75-watt incandescent bulb, or a CFL, which typically lasts 8,000 to 10,000 hours, we see quite a difference in bulb life. However, LED bulb life decreases in higher operating temperatures. LED's do not burn out, they decrease slowly in lighting efficiency. They are already versatile and efficient for small sources, such as under cabinet lighting, stair nosing, pathway and step lights, and where great focus is needed, such as spot lighting. They are not the right choice in all areas yet, such as large open spaces or where the light source is an object such as chandeliers.
LED's are not yet at their peak of lighting efficiency and output. They are advancing quickly however. While LED bulbs are still significantly more costly to purchase and have not perfectly transitioned into all needs, like all new technology, the prices are rapidly dropping with increased research and production. And the real cost when comparing LED bulb life spans to incandescent bulbs is favorable. LED bulbs are also mercury-free, unlike CFL's, making them a greener and safer choice for everyone.

Led lamps to include modern lighting?

Today is understood by modern lighting something else. It is time for a new light sources such as LED lamps can be, to move into residential areas and industrial buildings.

LED Lights MCOB technology COB Technology

As we know, most of COB encapsulation technologies, including the one of Japan, are based on the encapsulation of the aluminum base, which assemble some chips to be encapsulated on the aluminum base. This is what we call the COB technology. The substrate of the aluminum is copper foil, which can only well conduct electric but it can’t process optical processing very well. MCOB technology, quite distinct from the traditional technology, puts the chips in the optical cups according to optics. It aims to make not only one cup, but many cups. It derives from a simple principle, i.e., the light of LED is from the chip itself, which means we need many angles to let out more light. The light efficiency can be improved if we have more light exits. In any cases, the light efficiency of low power’s chips can be at least 15% higher than high power’s chips. The reason is that the chips of high power are bigger and they only have four light exits. However, we can have as many as sixteen small chips on a board and 4*16 light exits. For this reason, MCOB is not only a cup, the purpose of many cups in MCOB is higher lighting efficiency. Just because of many cups, comparing with the ordinary COB tech, products adopting MCOB tech have much higher lighting efficiency.

COB LED Light Technology - Chip on Board LEDs

Chip on Board ( COB ) LED Lighting technology

The greatest power densities on the smallest space are often the basis for unique selling points of various products on the market. These criteria can be realized by the ( Chip on Board ) COB LEDs technology (Chip On Board). Direct contacting of the semiconductors (LEDs) on PCBs allows for optimal thermal management, high packaging density and thus long-lasting and high-performance COB LED modules.

( Chip on Board ) COB LED Light technology

With this technology, the LED chips are in the form of a semiconductor chip, which is neither encased nor connected. The semiconductor chip is described as a "Die". This LED chip is processed by means of a special procedure which is called "Die Bonding". Here the individual chips are placed on the PCB and using the Wire Bonding method, connected to the contact surface of the PCB, which are described as "Pads". Gold wires in the micrometer range are used for contacting. TheCOB LED light technology allows for virtually limitless freedom of scope for the PCBs and thus serves as the basis for totally unique LED solutions.

HQ LED Light Bulbs for Your Home

LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes can be an excellent choice for lighting your home, but there are a wide range of different LED light bulbs to choose from, so it is important to consider your choices carefully before you make your purchase.
LED Light Bulbs
LED light bulbs are a type of semiconductor. As electricity passes through them, they produce light energy. The chemicals which the LEDs and the surrounding bulbs contain will determine the color of the light that is emitted. The energy efficiency of LED light bulbs stems from the fact that they convert most of the energy that they use into light. With incandescent light bulbs, a lot of the energy is lost in the form of heat. This makes incandescent light bulbs far less energy efficient. The difference between the energy efficiency of incandescent and LED light bulbs can be huge. An LED light bulb can be as much as 90 percent more energy efficient than an incandescent bulb.
HQ LED Light Bulbs
HQ LED light bulbs are modern and compact lights that offer excellent energy efficiency. HQ aims to produce brighter, more energy efficient LED bulbs for everyday use in the home. HQ LED light bulbs are carefully tested to ensure they will offer good value for money and keep working as long as possible.
HQ LED bulbs come in a range of different sizes, shapes, colors and styles, so you can find the right type of LED light bulb to light your home. You may be looking for led light tubes, globe shaped bulbsceiling lights,Dimmer LED Downlight,COB LEDlightLED spotlights or led light strips,LED Wall Washer to create different types of lighting effects.
Advantages of LED Light Bulbs
LEDs can be more environmentally friendly than either traditional incandescent light bulbs or the newer energy saving light bulbs, which are usually Compact Fluorescent light bulbs (or CFLs). A CFL bulb is more energy efficient than an incandescent light bulb, but it is still only about half as efficient as an LED light bulb. A 10 Watt LED light bulb can provide the same amount of light as a 20 Watt CFL bulb. An LED light bulb will usually save you about 80 percent of the energy that you would use with an incandescent light bulb.
Although CFL bulbs do offer some important advantages over incandescent light bulbs in terms of energy efficiency, which can help to reduce your energy bills and which can also offer some important environmental benefits, LED light bulbs can provide greater energy efficiency in combination with some other important advantages. LED light bulbs will reach full brightness immediately and they can be turned on and off frequently without experiencing any damage. They can also be a lot more attractive than CFL bulbs and they can be used in lights that use a dimming feature, unlike CFL bulbs.
LED light bulbs also do not contain the same toxic chemicals as CFL bulbs. This means that they are a much more environmentally friendly option when it comes to disposal. CFL bulbs contain mercury, which can be very harmful for the environment, so they can result in serious pollution problems during disposal.
LED light bulbs can last a lot longer than either incandescent light bulbs or CFL bulbs. You will enjoy the convenience of not having to replace your light bulbs as often, as well as the financial savings on the cost of buying new light bulbs. LED light bulbs are usually designed to last for 50,000 hours of use. A single LED light bulb can last as long as 25 conventional incandescent bulbs.
LED light bulbs do not usually experience a sudden failure, which can happen with other types of light bulbs. This can make an LED light much safer since it is very unlikely to fail suddenly when you need it most, for example when you are about to go down the stairs. When LED lights fail, it is usually through a gradual dimming, so that eventually they will lose enough of their brightness that they will need to be replaced. Typically, it can take between 35,000 and 50,000 hours of use for an LED light bulb to lose half of its original brightness.
The main disadvantage of choosing an LED light bulb rather than an incandescent or CFL bulb is that the initial cost of buying the bulbs tends to be higher. However, these higher costs are offset by the longer lifetimes of the bulbs, which means that they need to be replaced less often, and by the superior energy efficiency. Since they need to be replaced less often and because they can reduce your energy bills, an LED light bulb can end up being cheaper than the alternatives in the long-term.
Choosing the Right HQ LED Light Bulb
If you want to use HQ LED light bulbs in your home, you will need to make sure that you have the right type of light fittings for these bulbs. It is possible to use LED light bulbs in many different ways, including as lighting strips, as the main ceiling lights in your room or in lamps. You can either install LED light fittings or use an adapter to convert an existing light fitting or lamp into an LED light.
HQ LED light bulbs come in a range of different shapes. Light bars and strips are ideal for creating atmospheric lighting. Spotlights are a good choice if you want the light to be focused in a particular direction. They are ideal for table lamps, tracked lighting and recessed lighting. Globe LED bulbs are the best choice if you want to light an entire room since they spread the light out over a wide angle. However, you should remember that if the light is being dispersed in this way, it will seem less bright, so you need to buy a more powerful bulb if you want to achieve the same brightness with a globe bulb as with a spotlight.
As well as choosing the right shape bulb, you will need to consider the color. In terms of color, you will probably be looking for a white bulb, although it is possible to find colored LED bulbs that produce lights of all possible colors. However, even if you are choosing a white LED bulb, you will find that there are a range of different options. These are usually referred to in terms of color temperature. Warmer lights produce a softer, yellower light rather like the sunlight at dawn or dusk. Colder lights produce a whiter or bluer light rather like moonlight. Cooler color temperatures of 5000 to 7000 Kelvin are suitable for outdoor use, while color temperatures of 2500 to 4000 Kelvin are better indoors. Cooler white lights will be brighter than warm white lights, even if they use LED bulbs of the same power. This is because the color temperature of the warm white light is created by a coating of phosphor on the bulb. This dims the light at the same time as changing the color.
As a bare minimum, you should ensure that you choose an LED light bulb that produces 50 lumens per watt. However, you will be able to enjoy a brighter light if you choose an HQ bulb that produces 75 or 100 lumens per watt. Using lumens rather than watts gives a better idea of the brightness of an LED light, which works very differently to the incandescent light bulbs that are measured using watts. Lumens are a measurement of the amount of light that is being emitted, while watts are a measurement of the amount of power being used by the light. A 100 watt incandescent light bulb typically produces about 1500 lumen of light.
A 3 watt high power LED bulb is comparable to an incandescent light bulb of 25 watts. A 9 watt high power LED bulb will be comparable to a 50 watt incandescent light bulb. An 18 watt high power LED bulb is comparable to a 100 watt incandescent bulb.
It is also important to consider the angle over which the light will be spread. Light bulbs with wider angles will be less focused, but the light that they produce will be dimmed as it will be more dispersed. You will therefore need to choose a brighter or more powerful bulb if you are choosing a wide angle bulb.
Most LEDs have beam angles of between 30 and 70 degrees. The smaller the angle, the more focused the light will be. However, you can also find bulbs with wider beam angles, which will spread the light over a larger area, producing an effect that is more similar to a traditional light bulb. If you are looking for a more dispersed light rather than a spotlight, you should look for an HQ LED bulb with a beam angle of at least 120 degrees.
